Today we will settle the eternal debate that’s been plaguing Jaffa Cake lovers for years. Is the beloved snack a cake or a biscuit?
There are arguments to both sides of the story, however, Bahlsen (makers of the oblong Jaffa Cake) can confirm that it is indeed a cake.
Bahlsen state that the soft spongy base and layer of orange covered in chocolate make the Jaffa Cake a cake and not a biscuit.
This statement is supported by the fact Jaffa Cakes go hard when they’re stale and have gone off (a cake quality), whereas biscuits go soft.
It’s hoped this statement will clear up the endless debates occurring on Twitter and other social media sites about the classification of Britain’s best loved biscuit…I mean cake!
